Brina is a septuagenarian coffee-shop owner living in village of Eagle Cove on Vancouver Island. Originally from Yugoslavia, her family fled the communist regime a couple of years after the Second World War. Shortly after arriving in Canada, Brina foresees her father’s death, but no one believes her. When her father is murdered as a suspected communist, her mother distances herself from her daughter, afraid of her strange powers of divination. As Brina becomes a social outcast, she learns she must ignore her intuition if she is to be accepted by others. And in doing so, she is led into a life of hiding. As she enters her later years, she realizes that in order to live authentically and to stand up for what she believes, she must learn to trust again in her intuition and her powers of divination. Only in doing so will be able to finally stop John Frost from peddling his poisonous pharmaceuticals to the Canadian public.
